Obstetric Ultrasound Scan
Ultrasound scan is one of the safest modalities for evaluation of pregnancy. Different types of scans are performed at different time frames during pregnancy. High-risk pregnancies may require more frequent scans for assessment of the baby.
The earliest scan known as ‘viability scan’ confirms pregnancy age and cardiac activity and rules out ectopic pregnancy.
NT scan [nuchal translucency scan] is done in the third month to find out how the baby and placenta are developing. It determines the fluid behind the baby’s neck to give an estimate of the risk of the baby having some common genetic problems such as Down syndrome.
Pre eclampsia screening scan is often clubbed with the NT scan. It estimates blood flow in the blood vessels of the womb to calculate your risk of developing high blood pressure later on in pregnancy.
TIFFA [targeted imaging for fetal anomalies] is a special scan done in the fifth month. It is a detailed evaluation of the baby and placenta, to find out any structural defects in the developing organs.
Preterm labour prediction scan evaluates the length of your cervix and gives us an estimate of the risk of your developing preterm labour pains.
Growth scans are done in the last three months of pregnancy to find out how your baby is gaining weight, and how the pregnancy is progressing. In case your baby is not gaining weight as it should, our team of experts tries to analyse the reasons behind and provide possible solutions for the same.
Doppler scans are special scans that assess the blood flow running through major blood vessels of your baby. These are very important scans that are often used to time the delivery and at times, the mode of delivery also.
